Dr. Naman Desai is currently employed with the Accounting and Information Assurance department at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). He is a Chartered Accountant and a PhD in Accounting from Florida State University. Prior to joining UMD he was associated with the University of Central Florida, Orlando, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and the University of California, Riverside. He has primarily taught courses related to financial accounting, cost accounting, corporate governance, fraud risk assessment and valuations. Over the years he has taught courses in MBA, Masters, and PhD programs and he has also coordinated and taught in several customized and open enrolment executive education programs for large multinational companies. He has also undertaken several consulting assignments for private companies and public sector entities, served as a member of regulatory boards in the area of accounting and auditing, and has also served as an independent Board of Director for two public sector entities in India.

Dr. Desai’s research interests are in the areas of Auditing, Corporate Governance, and Financial Reporting. He has published several papers in renowned international research journals, and he also regularly acts as a reviewer and associate editor for such journals. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the Managerial Auditing Journal.
