Smith School and Bowie State University Represented at International CIBER Case Challenge
The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business sponsored eight undergraduate students, four from UMD and four from partner institution Bowie State University, to the 2017 CIBER Case Challenge hosted by the University of Connecticut. The competition, which took place Oct. 11-15, 2017, included student representatives from universities across the world. Students were organized on teams with participants from other U.S. and international universities and tackled an international business case over the course of the weekend.
Smith MBAs Win $12,000 Grand Prize
A team of MBA students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business outperformed finalists from Northwestern, Georgetown and Carnegie Mellon Universities to win the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s inaugural MBA Case Competition on Nov. 3, 2016, in Washington, D.C. “Congratulations to the Smith School team for its first place finish in our inaugural MBA Case Competition,” said foundation president Carolyn Cawley. “At the Foundation we believe that business is part of the solution, so it was rewarding to see the team bring that to life.”
Smith MBAs Compete in PepsiCo MBA Invitational Business Case Competition
PepsiCo Awards $15,000 to MBA Students in a Business Case Competition at the TCU Neeley School of Business MBA students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business joined students from 13 other universities to compete in the 2016 PepsiCo MBA Invitational Business Case Competition at Texas Christian University (TCU), Oct. 28-30, 2016.
Smith Team in Finals of U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Inaugural MBA Case Competition
A team of MBA students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business will compete in the final round of the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Inaugural MBA Case Competition, in partnership with FedEx Freight, on Nov. 3, 2016, in Washington, D.C. The competition is designed to be a forum for MBA students to explore the connection between business success and corporate social responsibility. The four finalists were selected from 34 teams from 12 universities. Winners will receive national recognition and a share of prize money. The finalists are:

Orientation Program, Northrop Grumman Case Competition Set MBAs Up For Success
As their first semester comes to a close, a case competition organized with Northrop Grumman during the final week of MBA orientation is paying dividends for the class of 2017 full-time MBA students at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Specialty Masters Students Compete in Case Competition
On November 13, 2015, the Smith School's specialty masters students participated in a case competition in Van Munching Hall. The event was hosted by the Office of Career Services in collaboration with lead faculty judge Barney Corwin, Associate Clinical Professor & Senior Fellow, CHIDS.
Smith Team Places Second in OSU MBA Case Competition
A team of first-year MBA students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business traveled to Columbus, Ohio, last week for the 23rd Ohio State University Fisher Invitational Case Competition. Expectations for Maryland were high and the Smith team did not disappoint, coming in second place for the second year in a row.
Smith Undergrads Win Marketing Summit
A team of four undergraduates from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business took home first place in this year’s Wake Forest Marketing Summit, a case competition held annually at WFU’s campus in Winston-Salem, N.C. After 10 days of preparation and two intense days of competition, the students returned triumphantly to College Park with the first place trophy and $8,000 in prize winnings.
