The Center for Social Value Creation hosted its Spring Undergraduate Case Competition in partnership with Gallo, challenging Smith School students to develop marketing strategies for Nobilo wine. Six teams presented recommendations to a panel of industry and faculty judges.

Nearly 100 business fraternity pledges competed in Smith’s semesterly Interfraternal Case Competition, hosted by the Center for Social Value Creation and KPMG. Teams proposed AI-driven sustainability solutions for a fictional medical center. Delta Sigma Pi’s team took first place.

Maryland students Marvi Shroff, Eileen Chen, Meilin Yuan, and Jiayi Wang won first place at the Milgard Invitational Case Competition, earning global recognition for UMD’s Smith School with their strategic analysis of the aviation industry and investment recommendation for Airbus.

The Grand Global Challenges Competition invites UMD students to tackle global issues through ethical, sustainable solutions. This year’s winning team will compete at Loyola Marymount’s International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competition in April.

Students gained insights into career-building in the areas of consulting and social innovation from leaders representing India's largest business conglomerate, in a Tata Innovation Dialogue and Global Internship Program hosted Nov. 20, 2024, by the Center for Social Value Creation (CSVC) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Seventy members from professional business fraternities at UMD competed in the Center for Social Value Creation’s ESG-focused pledging case competition. Phi Chi Theta’s team won, showcasing innovative solutions. The event featured alumni judges and engaged an audience of 150 students.

The Center for Social Value Creation’s inaugural Sustainability in Business Conference convened experts, policymakers, and researchers to address global sustainability challenges. Panels covered pathways to net zero, social enterprise, innovation in sustainable business practices, and human rights within corporate sustainability efforts.

The Smith School's Center for Social Value Creation partners with AqVerium, the first digital water bank, to drive water sustainability. This collaboration will promote education, research, and water-saving practices, aiming to achieve Water Positivity by 2030.

Impact Consulting Fellowship students from the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business participated in the PALS spring project showcase, winning Outstanding Student Awards for collaborating with Community Forklift. They worked on sustainability projects with real-world community impact.

On April 19, 2024, Smith’s Center for Social Value Creation joined EarthFest to raise recycling awareness, featuring a game to educate students on proper recycling practices and highlight common recycling misconceptions.
